Location: chicago, IL, United States Profile: Eric is a Chicago DJ on the cutting edge of today’s Hip Hop scene. In this era Hip Hop has blurred the boundaries of distinctly different sounds in the industry. From Rap to Rock, Jazz to Classical, from Funk to Dance it has all been assimilated into the Hip Hop culture. In the cold winds of Chi-Town, one DJ has been able to balance the lines and bring it all together, they call him DJE. Eric was born on the tough Southeast side of Chicago. He was exposed to music at a very young age. Eric found the instrument of his destiny when he saw his Father, one of the hottest local DJs of his era, playing with two turntables at one time. By the time he was fifteen years old, Eric was DJing the hottest backyard Hip Hop jams in his neighborhood. With the money he earned he purchased more equipment and began producing tracks for the local Rap groups. While Djing a local party, Eric met a young Rapper who called himself Rebel XD. Eric was impressed with Rebel and took him under his wing. Under Eric’s guidance Rebel went on to become the Guinness Book of World Records Fastest Rapper on the Planet. They formed an alliance and DJE was born. While he has had many successes in Hip Hop, Eric decided Rap music was not enough. He began Djing with Chicago area Rock bands MadHops and Boomstick. This was new and exciting for DJE, but he still looked to expand his musical palette. DJE has finally found the avenue he was looking for to express his artistic nature in a Funk band called Urban Funk Ordinance. With his new band DJE has put out an album that has met to much critical acclaim. He has begun work on the next album and is currently touring the Midwest with his band. Dabbling in House, Drum & Bass, Techno and Industrial, DJE is looking to further blur the lines across the musical genre landscape. The future is waiting for DJE ’s next move, try not to miss it!
