Help » Frequently Asked Questions
A. Using the site to listen to music is free. As a DJ or industry member, you can also take advantage of our other promotional tools free to charge to network with the industry. You can register at http://register.djcentral.com to start using the tools now. The only thing we charge for is when a DJ wants to store and stream his music from our servers. That costs us money in bandwidth and storage so we are forced to pass those costs on. The DJ benefits by having a cost-effective way to distribute their music online and get it out to promoters instantly. Q. What software do I need to use the site?
A. We use Microsoft Windows Media Technologies for streaming so DJ sets hosted at our site will require Windows Media Player. We also allow for the linking of sets which may be hosted otherwise. Those may stream in other formats (RealAudio, Streaming MP3, etc.) which we have no control over. Original Tracks produced by artists on the site are offered in MP3 format. Q. When was DJ Central launched?
A. We launched the site in March 2000 at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. We return to Miami each year to hold another large event. The last few years we've held our event at The Clevelander Hotel in the heart of South Beach. Click here to visit our Winter Music Conference section.
